BANGKOK: Antin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Minister of Public Health, in an interview with Chinese media, said that Thailand lauds China’s achievements in the past 70 years since its foundation and that his country is ready to support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for the prosperity and development of Thailand and the region.
Antin further said that in just 70 years since its founding, China has managed to go from a poor, impoverished, agriculture based country to an economic superpower along with rapid advancements in technology. He added that countries like Thailand are impressed by what China has achieved and aims to accomplish through the BRI and that his country would work towards achieving the same in a relatively shorter time. Antin said numerous cooperation projects between China and Thailand are being undertaken like the Thailand-China high-speed railway project and he wishes that more such projects come up.
He spoke highly of BRI and that it contributes to regional as well as global development.
