BELGRADE: While meeting with Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian President said his country hopes to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries in various fields including military.

Vucic noted that the history has proven that China is Serbia’s most trusted friend. Serbia supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its stance on a number of issues that are vital to China’s core interests.

He also said that the BRI has brought new opportunities for development and growth in Serbia and that he hopes that the two countries will continue to increase mutually beneficial cooperation in diverse fields, including military. Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that the traditional friendship between China and Serbia is profound. He added that China is ready to consolidate an all-weather friendship with Serbia and work towards strengthening bilateral ties and accelerate trade between them.

Zhang also suggested that the militaries of the two countries must respect and quickly implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries and deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance exchanges and cooperation in bids to promote their links to new height trust.
